School in Managua – Learn Spanish here!

The Nicaragua Capitol, a very active city!

The school in Managua consists of a staff of mostly bi-lingual in Spanish and English. We are located in the center of Managua, near Metrocentro Shopping Mall. The teachers are 100% Nicaraguan native-speakers. We work mainly with NGO’s, missionaries and embassy employees and families. We offer discounts to the organization members. Just ask and we will let you know what we can do for you.

Your Coordinator Jorge at the school is fantastic at his job! All of the staff love what they do and are well-trained. We are a simple school but well-equipped to get you speaking Spanish well and quickly. The Director is certified to teach Spanish as a second language and has more than a decade of experience. The teachers all either have at least an undergraduate degree or are in their final year of school. They are always smiling and always accessible to students for anything that they need during their stay in Nicaragua. They are full of information, diligent and always ready and willing to help with whatever the issue. They have contacts with various organizations all over Managua to help you resolve any concern or to connect you with resources, such as for students doing research or students interested in cultural activities.

Classes in Managua are very academic. We have also been trained to work with both children and adults. Most classes are one-on-one with your teachers, with some exceptions for groups and couples. Since most of the students in Managua are working with NGO operations, embassies or doing missionary work, we specialize in this type of study. Of course we also teach tourists! See below for more course description.

Because safety is always first on the mind of students studying in the capitol, we work extra hard to guarantee good homestay-family placement. Our families treat the students as if they were their own children and watch over them. You still have your freedoms of course, but they may ask a few more questions when you head out! All of our homestays have been used previously and inspected by our staff. The families in Managua really care about the students. They are happy to practice your Spanish with you at just about any time. We can also recommend hotels in the area. Just ask and we will help you set things up to meet your budget and needs.

The city of Managua

Founded in 1819, the city was given the name: Leal Villa de Santiago de Managua. Its original
purpose was to serve as a rural fishing village. Efforts to make Managua the capital of Nicaragua began in 1824, after the Central American nations formally attained their independence from Spain. Managua’s location between the rival cities of León and Granada made it a logical and ideal compromise site. Managua’s economy is based mainly on trade. The city is Nicaragua’s chief trading center for coffee, cotton, and other crops. It is also an important industrial center. Its chief products include beer, coffee, matches, textiles and shoes. Managua, being a large capitol city, has everything. Its not for the student who wants the beach, but it can be a great experience for those who are more “city-oriented”. There are great restaurants, clubs, casinos and shopping. Managua has the extremes of wealth and poverty. A large city with the charm of a small town…horse and carts along side buses at the stop lights.

Class Structure:

In Managua, you’ll study four hours a day, the classes consist of two hours of grammar and two hours of conversation or we can adapt the class structure to your needs and desires. We can arrange a homestay with a local family close to your school or we can set you up in one of the many hotels or hostels in the city. Transportation is cheap and plentiful in Managua. The school here is known as one of the best on Central America and has a great record of getting its students speaking and understanding Spanish quickly. The school is used by most of the embassies and NGO operations in Managua. We also serve tourists. Again, we are very academic. We will have you speaking and understanding the language much faster than you would think. Let us know what your desires are and we will help you set everything up!
